HSC at Alesco
At the heart of Alesco鈥檚 philosophy lies a dedication to providing a well-rounded education that values academic rigor, but places equal emphasis on the overall wellbeing of our students. This unique approach aims to not only equip our young people with knowledge, but also to foster respect and responsibility for themselves and the community around them.
Alesco Secondary College offers students a Higher School Certificate (HSC) compressed delivery model.
What is the compressed model?
The compressed model allows our students more time per year in each subject, because they study fewer subjects in the 12-month period.
This means that in any 12-month period they will complete all Preliminary (Year 11) and HSC (Year 12) course hours in 3 subjects. For this reason we break our students into Senior 1 and Senior 2 groups, rather than Year 11 and 12.
Why the compressed model?
HSC Pressure
The HSC can be a stressful time 鈥� the compressed model means that students will only sit 3 HSC exams per year, rather than 5 or more, alleviating some of the stress associated with juggling a demanding examination schedule.
Focused Learning
By concentrating on fewer subjects at a time, students can delve deeper into their studies, maximising their learning potential and understanding.
